Congratulations to Emily, who is our first Mathematician of the week of 2013. She has worked really hard in adding and subtracting larger numbers, and is becoming much more confident with decimal numbers too.
On top of all this, she has learnt the column methods for addition and subtraction as well! Well done Emily, I am pleased to see your confidence growing.
The final mathematician of the week award of 2012 was won jointly by Dylan P and Sophie. Both have been working extremely hard when dealing with percentages and have shown great determination and perseverance in order to succeed.
Well done to both!
This week, the deserving winner was Maria, who has been wowing us with her knowledge and understanding of fractions. She can simplify and add them, as well as working with mixed and improper fractions. Part of the reason she has succeeded is because she has learnt all of her times tables with the division facts too! This makes it so much easier!
Well done Maria.
We have had two mathematicians of the week since the last time I posted.
Two weeks ago, Chiara was nominated because of her attention to detail when dealing with data. She was able to answer questions carefully, plot her own graphs accurately and could even interpret pie charts too!
This week, the award went to Dylan F. We have been working with fractions this week, and Dylan has been brilliant at simplifying them, as well as converting improper fractions to mixed fractions. He has really challenged himself and should be very proud.
Well done to you both. Who will it be next week?
This week the award goes to Emil, who has been fantastic when working with 3D shapes. He has used all of the correct vocabulary at the right times, and has been a brilliant team member when we were building giant shapes.
Congratulations to Ciara who is our mathematician of the week. She has been really careful when using a protractor, and has been able to help other children to become more confident when measuring angles as well.
